Get Up! / For PR

about

I made a track thinking about the times I saw Pita (Peter Rehberg) live. The pure sonic assault of his 2005 duo with Lasse Marhaug at No Fun Fest -- and then nearly fifteen years later seeing his solo modular set in Portland with Daniel Menche opening.

Peter was a celebrity to me, and I wish I had the guts to say hello to him at that PDX show and tell him how much his music and label meant to me. I will never get that chance now. Reading all of your remembrances, I do it from a distance.

Fittingly, this sounds nothing like those sets, but rather how I felt during them. The odd clarity you find in the chaos; that feeling of movement and pulse pulling you in all directions at once, almost making you want to dance. I used a Moog Subharmonicon, my microtonal guitar, Infinitone DMT software for microtuning, and some other miscellaneous electronics.

Thanks Peter. I hope you wouldn't hate this track, but even if you did, you helped me find my own voice and I will always appreciate that.
